Special Workshop Event:
Reknown artist, Dona Benkert will be on hand on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church, 2901 S. Western Ave., Park Forest, IL at 2:00 PM.  Dona will teach both hammered and mountain dulcimer music.  Dona’s interest in dulcimers and old time music began fourteen years ago when while working the craft show circuit selling old fashioned cloth dolls, she was placed next to a dulcimer builder. After two days of hearing the beautiful sounds produced by the unusual instrument, Dona was hopelessly hooked and purchased her first dulcimer. She has since become an expert in not only the music but also the history of the dulcimers, and now spreads her enthusiasm to students and audiences throughout the Midwest. Along with her husband Dan, the Benkerts opened Folk-Lore Center in 1993, the first school and real home for traditional music in the western suburbs. Dona also teaches music at the renown Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, and square dance at College of DuPage.  For more information, you may contact Dona at www.folk-lorecenter.com or through our "contact us" page.
